Discovery Islands Lodge Accommodation & Rates Quadra Island’s B&B kayak hostel

Please read this Information before making your reservation!

Discovery Islands Lodge is located on the waterfront just beyond Main Lakes Provincial Park on Quadra Island near Vancouver Island.

Set in the remote wilderness part of north Quadra Island, Discovery Islands Lodge is near the end of the Surge Narrows road, a 22 km drive from the nearest serviced community at Heriot Bay.

As citizens of the post-Kyoto era, we are committed to being part of the global effort to reduce greenhouse gases, and opposed to using our fossil-fuel generator for unlimited and/or unnecessary energy.

We generate most of our power from solar and wind renewable sources.

This preserves the quiet ambience of our incredibly beautiful location, but it also means we have limited electricity for lights and appliances.

Please come adequately prepared for staying with us!

Bring your sleeping bag!

Limited energy means we use washing machine & line-dry linens in fresh air.
Beds at our Quadra Island B&B kayak hostel come with only a bottom sheet and covered pillow.

We do have good clean sleeping bags available for rent at modest cost.

Bring a flashlight and/or headlamp! Rooms have electric lighting, but hallways and outside areas may be dimly lit. Long summer days provide sunlight until well past 9:00 PM, but by late August and September darkness comes earlier.

Meals at Discovery Islands Lodge: Overnight room price includes a good breakfast, but we do not offer regular prepared lunch and dinner service. The Lodge has a fully equipped kitchen that guests may share, and limited fridge space is usually available.

We provide cookware, cutlery and dishes, but you need to bring all your food supplies. Good grocery stores are located at Heriot Bay (22km by road) and at Surge Narrows (1 km by kayak).

Waste Disposal: Except for compost, there are no garbage disposal services at Discovery Islands Lodge. If you are cooking or camping, please purchase food products with a minimum of packaging and plan ahead to pack-out your garbage!

You can recycle paper, glass, plastic and cans at the recycling bins near the ferry departure on Quadra Island.

Small Rooms
$75 single room for one person
$90 double room for two people

Large Rooms
$120 for family of two adults & one child (additional child $25)
$150 three adults
$170 four adults

Rental Sleeping bag (with clean cotton liner): $10 first day, $5 additional day

Lodge Rental :

Summer Season Lodge Rentals We are happy to host your group or offer a self-serve lodge rental. Specific dates usually require advance calendar planning. Please inquire for availability and price!

Off-Season Lodge Rentals

Self-Serve: $250 per day (2 days minimum) for up to 8 people. Add $25 per person per day to maximum 20 people.
Fully-Catered Weekend: $1,250 for up to 8 people. (Includes Saturday breakfast, lunch, dinner and Sunday breakfast and lunch.) Extra days: $625.00 Cdn.
Add $50 per person per day to maximum 20 people.

Conference/Special Events

Discovery Islands Lodge is a casually elegant, spectacular and affordable place to hold an event! For your reunion, wedding, seminar or mini-conference, the lodge is comfortable for up to 50 people for daytime activities and offers overnight accommodation for 18. Contact us for details and prices!
